The Ukraine Reconstruction Fund continues to support cultural and educational initiatives aimed at preserving the national identity of Ukrainians who were forced to live abroad due to the war.
One of the most prominent examples of such an initiative is the cultural space of Ukraine in Dusseldorf, which is run by Yaroslava Kosenko.
Various events regularly organized by Yaroslava and her friends introduce the younger generation to Ukrainian culture and language, maintaining an important mental connection with their distant homeland.
On August 31, the last day of summer, Yaroslava Kosenko organized a reading for young Ukrainians in the children’s section of the central library in Düsseldorf. She introduced the children to the book “The Postman” by Kateryna Sad, published by Staryi Lev Publishing House.
A special highlight of the event was the illustrations from the book, which were shown on a big screen so that every child could enjoy the beauty of the pictures. The reading was aimed at supporting the Ukrainian language among children who are currently living in Germany.
The event was free and everyone was welcome to come with friends, which created an atmosphere of friendliness and comfort.
“It is important for us that our children, wherever they are, have the opportunity to feel connected to their native culture. Such events help them to preserve the Ukrainian language, remember their roots and be part of our community,” says Yaroslava Kosenko.
Yaroslava holds such readings on a regular basis in an effort to keep children connected to their native culture and language. The next event is scheduled for September 14, and she is looking forward to welcoming new visitors.
