American companies are ready to help rebuild Ukraine without waiting for the war to end. This was stated by Deputy Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago during her visit to Kyiv.
At a briefing in Kyiv, she said that the United States has provided $82 billion in aid to Ukraine and continues to mobilize allies for further military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. She said the U.S. private sector is ready to join this support.
“Supporting Ukraine is more than just the right thing to do. It is an investment in transatlantic security and democratic values that we all deeply value,” said Marisa Lago, adding that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration understands this as well. ”For us, this unwavering commitment to Ukraine means connecting U.S. companies to urgent needs right now, such as defense and energy.
In Kyiv, Lago met with the business community, entrepreneurs, and government officials. According to the U.S. official, they discussed how Ukraine can attract business and investment, particularly in the country’s recovery.
“Today I spoke with a group of about 200 companies from the United States, Ukraine and the region. The international business community is eager to help, and the U.S. private sector has been particularly steadfast in its support,” the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce said.
As of February 2024, it was known that the needs for the reconstruction of Ukraine amounted to almost $486 billion. These are the results of the third Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA3), which the Ukrainian government conducted jointly with the World Bank.
