Ukraine continues active international negotiations on the preservation and restoration of its cultural heritage, which has suffered as a result of Russian aggression. Recently, Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications, met with Claudia Roth, State Minister for Culture of Germany, to discuss further steps in this direction.

“Restoring the cultural heritage that Russia continues to destroy is an important international challenge that requires global cooperation,” Minister Tochytskyi emphasized.

“Restoring Ukraine’s cultural heritage is not only a matter of preserving our history, but also an important element of our resilience. Thanks to international support, such as cooperation with Germany, we can preserve our cultural values for future generations,” commented Victoria Korsunova, Director of the Kyiv office of the Ukraine Reconstruction Fund (URF).

During the discussions, Ukraine invited Germany to join the cultural and humanitarian coalition aimed at strengthening the sustainability of Ukraine’s cultural sector.

“The participation of the international community in the restoration of Ukrainian culture is a contribution to the reconstruction of not only our country, but also our cultural identity, which is part of the European heritage,” added Victoria Korsunova.

Claudia Roth confirmed Germany’s readiness for further cooperation, noting that “this is a war against Ukrainian culture and identity, so we will continue to support you in this fight.”
